the rainbow by yasunari kawabata (trans. haydn trowell)

another imagery-heavy novel. the number one thing you get out of it is the flowers and plant life, then the interiors, then weather, then the city layouts. the most striking thing is the dialogue of the young characters being so heavy with reminiscence & regret. for obvious historical reasons.
